Something different- Wrasse hunt!

Ken came into Anglers Corner last week looking to tick off a wrasse for his new found love of species hunting.

We met in the early evening, and I ran to the intertidal as the tide was coming in to collect some fresh bait. Wrasse hang around boulders hunting for small crustaceans and the like, so they make the perfect bait!
We headed down the coast for 20 minutes, and dropped some single small hooked paternoster rigs into my favourite wrasse hole, expecting instant bites.
Nothing
More nothing

The water was quite coloured, and the tide quite low- I suspected the wrasse would be hiding further out off the shelf waiting for the tide come up, so we both cast out 30 yards or so. Suddenly both our rods whip over at the same time, and Ken's first wrasse was landed safely. Job done!
We also went for some seatrout to no avail (except a couple wee pollack and a grey gurnard on a shallow diver (eh?), an odd fishing day, very very quiet.. but full kudos to Ken putting in the hours and the legwork to try find some fish!
